# Start and manage conversations

> Send messages, control streaming, and organize your chat history.

## Start a conversation

1. Open Chat from the sidebar. 2. Type your question in the composer. **Enter** sends; **Shift+Enter** adds a new line. On a fresh chat you can also click one of the suggested question tiles. 3. Watch the answer stream in. While a response is streaming, the send button turns into a red stop button (a white square icon) — click it to cut the response short. Stopping only halts streaming in your current view: the partial text and its **stopped** badge are shown there but are not saved. When you come back to the conversation, the turn shows the full answer the server finished generating — or, if you stopped before any text arrived, the turn may not appear at all.

## Your conversation history

The conversation list (left of the chat on desktop, inside the sidebar drawer on mobile) groups chats into Pinned, Today, Yesterday, Previous 7 days, and Older. From each conversation's row you can:

- **Pin / unpin** — pinned chats stay at the top.
- **Rename** — edit the title inline; press **Enter** to save.
- **Delete** — removes the conversation after a "Delete this conversation?"

confirmation.

- Use the **filter box** (placeholder "Search chats…") to find a conversation

by title.

Conversations are titled automatically: shortly after the first answer, the title in the list is replaced by a generated one based on your question. If you rename a chat right after its first message, the automatic title may overwrite yours — rename again once it settles.

Click **New chat** at the top of the list to start fresh at any time. The conversation title in the chat header is also a dropdown with its own **New chat** option.

## Search inside a conversation

Once a conversation has messages, a search icon appears in the header. It opens a find bar that matches text across all messages. Matching works at the message level: the counter shows how many messages contain your text, and each step scrolls the matching message into view and flashes it (individual occurrences inside a message are not highlighted). Step through matches with the arrows or **Enter** / **Shift+Enter**, and close with **Escape** (with the find bar's input focused).

## Good to know

- Your current conversation is restored automatically when you come back to

the page.

- Each answer (assistant reply) has a stable link — see

[Message actions](/docs/chat/message-actions) — so you can bookmark or share a specific answer with a teammate. Your own messages don't have links or actions.

- Deleting a conversation cannot be undone.
